The Northern Aquatic Centre FOR North SHORE RESIDENTS - WHAT THE ...?

On Wednesday 23 September, Council supported a motion to ask its Auckland City law firm to provide a legal opinion about the legal opinion it provided in December 2008. No, we are not kidding.

THE LATEST GROSS WASTE OF RATEPAYERS MONEY DECIDING WHERE TO PUT THE NORTHERN AQUATIC CENTRE

Cr. Blair put forward a motion to seek a legal opinion on the legal opinion that Council already paid for in December 2008.

Say what?

Seriously - they have decided twice to develop the Northern Aquatic Centre on Council owned land at North Harbour Stadium. AND they have already spent over $1.0m deciding this, and yet again 8 Councillors want to renege on this decision. That equals the annual rates of about 700 homes.

Geez, what can I do to help?

Write to your Community Board, write to Rt. Hon Rodney Hide, write to the 8 Councillors named below:
Mayor Williams
Deputy Mayor Parfitt
Cr. Callum Blair
Cr. Holman
Cr. Keohane
Cr. Brown
Cr. Brett
Cr. O’Connor (TBC)

What else?

Well don't listen to any rubbish about better sites elsewhere. Firstly they have spent over $1.0m on experts who have told Council about the best site. Secondly, Council suggests places like Massey University, where Cr. Blair operates his business from and it is not Council owned land, and Millennium Institute, which is hard enough to get to from the motorway now without adding the vehicles for another 500-800,000 visitors to a Community Pool, and they are talking about developing land designated as a reserve.

Yes, I know, bring on the Auckland Council.
