About North Harbour Stadium
Only 10 minutes North of the Auckland Harbour BridgeBuilt for you ... Yours to enjoy
A multi-purpose facility at the heart of the North Harbour region for the whole community to enjoy; North Harbour Stadium is one of New Zealand's leading entertainment and sporting venues.
In early 1990, a handful of visionary people assembled to discuss the concept of a multi-purpose sports, recreation, cultural and entertainment facility for the North Harbour region. Located at Albany and opening in March 1997 the $41 million project became a reality, thanks to the support of the hundreds who contributed financially.
North Harbour Stadium is the centrepiece of the North Shore Domain, a 24 hectare site consisting of multi purpose sports fields, landscaped walking paths, picnic areas and gardens.
Our Heritage
In excess of one million visitors have experienced the hospitality and atmosphere of the regions premier sporting facility. Many people have contributed to the North Harbour Stadium becoming one of New Zealands busiest Stadia, hosting a multitude of community , regional, national and international events, all during our first five years.
The North Shore City Council, Trustees, Founding Members, Sponsors, Suppliers, Original Club Members and local residents who have all supported the dream of a modern entertainment complex with the ability to stage sporting, cultural, recreational events as well as incorporating a versatile Function Centre to cater up to 1500 guests. It is especially because of the personal and financial commitment of our Founding Members that North Harbour Stadium exists today.
Who can forget some of the spectacular events: the triumphant League victories against Australia when 20,000 people at full time stayed in their seats and didn't want to go home; the All Blacks playing a test match for first time on the North Shore; 200 million viewers revelling in the talents of players in the FIFA World U-17 Soccer Tournament; the thrill of each Rugby victory; the magnificence of landscape Opera and music greats Cliff Richard and The Corrs.
We have had them all, and it is a tribute to the people of the region that we now focus on the future and look towards more memorable events. Your support and patronage is paramount. Members will continue to play an integral part in the success of the North Harbour Stadium. It was built for you to enjoy and to be your entertainment future.
